I agree with nox..

A friend of mine over at phu-q.org posted this today. I think its a good point, so I’m reprinting it here.

VOTE!

There is no reason not to vote. Pick an issue. For many people, the right to vote is still a relatively new thing. Many people have died for a right that the majority of the citizens of this country piss away. There are many issues out there that can and will affect you. Every vote counts. If you don’t live in a battle ground state, make it one.

VOTE!

I registered yesterday, I meant to last winter, then forgot…..but I AM REGISTERED! I never thought my vote would count, w/ the electors and all making the final votes (atleast this is what i’ve been told), i don’t care if it is the truth or not, i’m still voting. And my excuse was that I didn’t pay enough attention to the events going on. So I never registered when i turned 18.

But now that i’m more ‘mature’. And now that i have a husband who was supposed to go over seas this past june (he didn’t because of medical reasons), it made me realize how important it was to vote. a few people that i knew personally have died over there. It really opens up some doorways. I NEED to vote to help my friends and family that are in the military. etc. That is my main reason for voting.

The fact is that there are issues out there that affect us. For you, it’s the military action. For others, it’s abortion. Some may care about health care or gay marriage. Whatever your issue(s) is, vote. If you don’t know as much about each candidate, take some time to find out about them. The future of our country is too great a price to pay for the sins of ignorance and laziness.

yah there are other things I’d like to vote for as well, such as gay marriage. And YES we do need better health care! Other governments in other countries manage free health care, I can’t see why we can’t? My main reason though is military. I want our country out of there!

I know enough about the candidates to know who I’m voting for!!!!!!! :)

this was a good post aaron!

I dunno, voting for either of these candidates is sort of like picking where you want someone to shoot you.

Regardless, I’ll be voting for the melty-faced guy.

kobe, i think your font should have been larger… and brighter… and perhaps flashing. i’m going to stick to my original threat of rubbing my ass on the faces of people who don’t vote… unless they like that sort of thing, in which case no ass/face contact EVER. my mom thinks it would be more effective if i threatened to shit on people’s porches, but i’ve spent enough time with the germans to know that there a lot of people who are into that…

on a lighter note, come see me on election night if you voted for john kerry. you get a free cookie!

I disagree. Voting is not important.

We should just appoint a king. I hear that Bush thinks that a dictatorship would be easier to run than a democracy.

I wonder if he’d want to be king?

Yes, this was an excellent post, Aaron. You are truly a masterful poster. :o )

Regardless of whether either of them are any good, people should surely agree with one more than the rest of them. That’s the point. There is never a perfect option, however, not choosing an option at all is counter-productive.

I’ll amend my earlier remark by adding that you HAVE to be shot one way or the other. It’s a hypothetical situation, unless you live in DC or maybe Texas.
