Walmart up to bat..

A friend sent me [this](http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/6558540/thekillers?pageid=rs.Home&pageregion=single1&rnd=1097616001120&has-player=unknown) intersting story about how walmart is going to try to bully the music industry into lowering the prices on CD’s, something that I know I have wished would be the case for some time now. Anyway it’s an interesting read. What do you all think?

the only thing I hate about walmarts cd’s is, they are cencored. Which is why I go to FYE or something. i wish they’d lower the price of DVD’s!!!!!!

Something had to give. CDs are just not a good value. Hollylwood took the hint a number of years back and decided to give the public more for their cash. If the music industry isn’t willing to add more content, a drop in price is very reasonable. Usually, I don’t side with Walmart, but regardless of their intentions, w00t!

I actually think DVDs give an adequate return on investment.

I agree. I hate spending more than 10 dollars or so on a DVD, but a good dvd is worth it. I feel that a good CD is worth purchasing, but most of the time, the stuff out there is just crap. Thats my $0.02 anyway.

if you feel like the cd you’re buying isn’t worth $20, then you must not feel like it’s a very good cd. I buy albums that I know are good, and get my money’s worth out of them by listening to them for years. I guess if yuou’re one of those people who goes straight to the Top 10 shelf and picks whatever the radio or whatever says you should like, $20 is probably too much since you might not listen to the whole thing anyway.

my point is if you actually like music, $20 shouldn’t seem like too much ..

in other news, El Paso sucks

Dan, that’s completely ridiculous. If I paid $20 for each of the CDs that I listen to regularly and for years, I’d be thousands and thousands of dollars in debt. I have 1500 albums on my computer, many of which I absolutely love and would be willing to pay $5 or so for. Not more. I consume way too much music to pay for it all. I sometimes buy albums online if an artist offers them on their website, but $10 is absolutely my upper limit. I’d just be spending too much money otherwise. Maybe your money isn’t worth as much to you, or maybe your music is just worth more, but $20 is ridiculous for an album without KNOWING that it’s gonna be one of your favorites for years.
